My Starfish

"You are your own star. You are your own light. Your star is rising,"

Hi, Tribe!

I wanted a logo for my blog and social media pages, so I enlisted my daughter's talented friend Ema @yourewelcomeatl (Instagram) to design one for me. My only request was it had to include a starfish and to keep it simple. Other than that she had free reign to design.

Her design was perfect and did, indeed, include my beloved starfish.

Why did I request a starfish of all things? It is because I have for years had a weird connection to this amazing sea creature. I find them beautiful and graceful and am fascinated by the way they can regenerate themselves if something bad happens to certain parts of their anatomy.

The fact starfish have the ability to regenerate and go on living speaks volumes to my heart and soul. I've been through bad times, am presently going through really bad times, yet most days I wake up and make a conscious decision to renew my strength along with my sense of humor and carry on. Sometimes it is minute by minute, but I keep inching forward and that is what matters.

Curious as to the symbolic meaning of the starfish, I turned to my friend Google. There were numerous websites most of which basically contained the same information.

After researching, I am now even more intrigued by starfish given their symbolic meanings (this is the short list):

  • Strong
  • Patient
  • Magical
  • Healing
  • Sensitive
  • Longevity
  • Renewing
  • Perceptive
  • Mysterious
  • Resourceful

The starfish is also said to symbolize infinite divine love and the divine Mother "who lovingly creates safe travels over troubled waters." It is also seen as an emblem of salvation during trying times.

For me, the starfish is one of my symbols (the Cross being the other) of hope and strength allowing me to fight and never give up. No matter what. I get the chance with every day I'm on this earth to show strength and perseverance with sensitivity and humor. As long as I am breathing I have a chance at renewal. That's powerful.

I found two writings while researching starfish. They fit my current situation as if they were written just for me. They are helpful and inspiring, which is why I want to share them with you.

It is my hope you will find something within them to inspire and uplift you in some way. They are:

  • You have the agility and strength to move through any situation. Take your time and move from the heart.

  • Okay – so things are a bit tough right now – however know that things will regenerate into something much stronger and far more abundant. Focus on gratitude and the positive outcomes to bring them to you sooner.

That's all for today. Until next time, wishing you…

Blessings, Peace and Love,

A journey of self.
